Hey there 👋

Thanks for stopping by and welcome to my blog. I'm Marco, a network engineer with a strong passion for understanding how technology works beneath the surface. ⚡

My journey in networking began in 2016, while I was still in high school, when I discovered the Cisco Networking Academy and started exploring CCNA topics on my own. That initial exposure to routing, switching, and networking protocols made me realize that networking was the path I wanted to pursue. Motivated by this, I earned my CCNA in January 2022 and pursued a Master's degree in Telecommunications in October 2022, where I built a solid technical foundation.

After graduating, I worked in consulting and then joined a system integrator: experiences that showed me how technology quietly connects people, businesses, and ideas. 🌐

In January 2025, I joined Cisco as a Network Consulting Engineer, focusing on routing, with a particular interest in BGP, network access control using Cisco ISE, and network automation through Infrastructure as Code (IaC), while also gaining exposure to SD-WAN technologies. 🚀 Then, in October 2026, I embarked on a new chapter, both professionally and personally, relocating to Dublin to join Amazon Web Services (AWS) as a Network Development Engineer, where I currently work on networking and cloud infrastructure.

You might also be wondering why I named this blog showiproute. The answer is simple: being always passionate about routing and how various protocols are configured to provide connectivity, I decided to name this site after one of the very first commands you encounter when stepping into the world of networking.
